Offline Files & Folders

We have 3 or 4 users who are mobile, and I have set up
offline files for a few shares which reside on a file
server at our office.

When these users are working in the office, every now and
then the laptops report that they have gone offline, and
access to the mapped drives is lost. Everything else seems
to be fine (no network problems in general), Outlook is
still functioning as is Internet browsing. You cannot
access any data on the mapped drives until
you "Synchronise" the offline files. Once you do this,
everything returns to normal.

The laptops have recently been upgraded to SP4 (I'm not
sure if the problem existed previous to this)..

Any Ideas?

I have exactly the same problem with 3 or 4 users (including myslef).
2 of our laptops are running XP, the others (including me) are running
on w2k (SP4).

I have recently had to do a re-install of the OS and ever since then
the laptop says im working offline every few minutes - maybe 15! As
described below, outlook and web browser works fine so the network
connection itself is fine.

I was running SP4 with all critical updates prior to re-install with
none of these Offline problems.

Clearly this doesnt answer the question, but i too am desperate for a
few clue's!

Out of interest. Which make and model of laptop are you
using? Ours are all Compaq Evo's (N600c & N800w)...

I downloaded the latest compaq drivers last night and installed. 10
minutes later W2k reported i was working offline again. switched on
this morning and same error again.

I've posted this problem to HP's support site. Was advised
to download all latest drivers. I have replied to say that
this didn't work... I'll let you know if there is any
response...
