I believe that you can put files into your public folder and make them
available offline to other users. the folders synchronise when the computers
connect.

I cannot see this option in my version of Windows Vista HE Premium.

Should it be included?

Hi Steve. They don't actually synchronize, but the Public folder becomes
available on Computer1 for people on Computer2 (for example). These are the
steps to get it set up:

1. On your computer, in Network and Sharing Center (Control Panel), turn on
Public Folder Sharing.
2. If you want to require a password when people connect, also turn on
Password Protected Sharing. If you want to use Password Protected Sharing,
you need to have matching user accounts and passwords on all the machines.
3. The machines should all be in the same workgroup. Check this because the
default workgroup used to be MSHOME and now in Vista it is WORKGROUP.
4. Now go put your docs that you want to share into the Public folder on
your computer (click Start, click Computer, and you'll see the Public folder
in the left pane. Inside the Public folder are subfolders for various kinds
of docs.
5. Count to ten. <just kidding>

Now, on the other computer, you should be able to put \\yourcomputername in
the Search box and drill down to the Public folder.

Thanks,
Gloria

I believe Offline Files is only avaiable with business, enterprise, and
ultimate version of Vista. I don't believe it is available on Home Premium.
If the Public Folders on Home Premium have a special ability to be made
offline then that is news to me.
