Offline Content

Jason

I use DClean to quickly clean up my computer. Delete TIF's cookies,
empty the Recycle Bin etc, all with one click. What it doesn't so is
delete Offline Content. Is there any way to alter the registry so
offline content will always be included? In other words, if it were
possible, I'd like Delete Offline Content permanently checked.

TIA
Jason

If I go to Tools - Internet Options, and select to delete offline
content, it takes a few seconds to do that task if I have not done it
in a week or so. It completes almost immediately, if I have done it
recently. I don't know how to check for sure, but I really believe
that Disk Cleaner is not including Offline Content.

Thanks,
Jason

After running Disk Cleaner and before opening IE, go to
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5. If
Disk Cleaner is deleting all of the offline content as IE does, there
will be only two files in that folder: desktop.ini and index.dat. If
anything else is present, not all offline content is being deleted.

Are all instances of IE closed when you run Disk Cleanup? When you delete
TIF and offline content? [The latter should be done either via Control
Panel>Internet Options or by d-clicking on desktop IE icon > Properties >

Offline content is not being deleted.

I use Disk Cleanup with no programs open. So, what you're saying is
that there is no tweek or registry change that will include Offline
Content when the TIF's are deleted and I can't rely on Disk Cleanup
to do this and must delete Offline Content in the traditional way.
That's what I was asking.

Thanks for your time.

AFAIK, Disk Cleanup will include Offline Content if there's offline content
found. I will confess that I have never trusted this and have always
deleted TIF/offline content via IE.

When I run Disk Cleanup, 'Offline Content' seems only to be
available if there *is* offline content to delete, Jason. Are you
seeing different behaviour?
