offline content

when I try to delete all offline content from files in
internet options, the program just hangs, doing nothing.
I then have to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close it.
The same thing happens with Norton Cleansweep when I try
Fast & safe cleanup, it stalls when cleaning the internet
cache.
Thanks for any help.

Give it more time..
It will look like it is Not Responding, may even say it, *if* your TIF
(Temporary Internet Files) is set to some ridiculous amount.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and shrink the size it stores to about
80 to 120MB (seems to be an optimal size for the normal user)

- Open ONE copy of Internet Explorer.
- Select TOOLS -> Internet Options.
- Under the General tab in the "Temporary Internet Files" section,
do the following:
- Click on "Delete Cookies" (click OK)
- Click on "Settings" and change the
"Amount of disk space to use:" to something between 80MB
and 120MB. (Betting it is MUCH larger right now.)
- Click OK.
- Click on "Delete Files" and select to
"Delete all offline contents" (the checkbox) and click
OK. (If you had a LOT, this could take 2-10 minutes or
more.)
- Once it is done, click OK, close Internet Explorer
- Re-open Internet Explorer.

Hi Shenan, thank you for your assistance. I tried what
you suggested and changed the amount of disk space from
1200mb to 100mb, I then tried deleting offline content
again, but after a long while nothing happened again.
By the way, Norton Cleansweep reports that there is only
320kb to be freed on all drives, if that helps.

If the cache was that big it could easily take several hours to clear it.
