I have 2 computers with windows vistas on them, At about the same time my
wife and myself opened windows mail. Now on both computers all of the E-mail,
contacts, and calader is gone. I understand Mocrosoft took this off the
offices 2007, Is that why this happened. Is Microsoft doing away with offices
outlook. I like this E-mail. But should I switch to the windows mail?

Mail shouldn't take the messages out of outlook, it should just copy them
over if you do an import.

Or do you mean that Outlook is no longer your default mail program? Just
start outlook from the start menu and it will probably ask if you want to
make it the default mail handler.

It seems that Windows mails does not import. It is a much better progrom
because of the way it handles your mail account. I have Office outlook as my
defalt on both, But the mail folders are all gone. One computer is a Gateway
and it has goback on it which does not work with vista so there is no restore
point on the computer. Mine which is a Dell has restore points. I have
searched both computers and can not find mail folders or mail. I prfer the
office outlook and am going to keep it as default, but I do not want to loose
all my mail and folders again. I do plan on getting office 2007 in the next
30 days and I see Mocrosoft has improved Outlook 2007 the same as windows
mail. Is this something that needs a fix an update? Thank you for you post.

Ok, so it sounds like you imported your PST files into the new install of
Outlook.

Two possibilities I can think of:
1) You did copy over your folders, but the shortcuts didn't get recreated.
You need to open the "Folder List". This will be under the View menu or the
Go menu (should be Go menu in Outlook 2003). Your folders might be there. You
can add them to your shortcut bar or Mail sidebar by right clicking on them
and selecting "add to favorites"

2) The folders you speak of were in separate PST files. Search your old
computer for the *.pst files and import them one at a time into Outlook.
