Hello all...
I found an OfficeJet 4215 sitting on the curb and picked it up. After being
dried out, all functions worked fine. Both ink cartridges reported over 50%
capacity remaining. The only obvious problem was a broken document feeder
tray.
Just the other day I sent a print job to it and got a surprise. The carriage
in the printer slammed back and forth violently to the extreme ends of its
travel several times before the display reported a "paper jam". (It didn't
sound like a paper jam to me!) This OfficeJet was sitting on top of a
mini-tower computer turned sideways and used as a printer stand. The
carriage slammed so hard each time that the computer shook.
I looked for jammed paper and found none anywhere in the unit. I don't
believe that paper jammed in it while I was away. I also checked the encoder
strip to be sure it was in place. It looks fine and is not dirty.
Is there anything I've overlooked here?
