Hello all

I have tried to install Office 2000 on a Windows 2000 Applications Terminal Server but have not succeeded. When I read about the ORK tools for the TERMSRVR.MST file, I followed the steps. However, when I tried to install the ORK tools on the Terminal Server, I get the following message (it is also the same message I get when I tried to install Office 2000 without the ORK tool)

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

I am not running the Terminal Server in safe mode and I am also the support personnel, so I really need assistance in resolving this issue

Thank you ahead of time, Thomas.

You should install the resource kit on a workstation, not the TS. Run setup /a to create a network Administrative Installation Point, apply service packs & MSPs to the Installation point (or integrate the setup on your workstation and run the current SPed setup /a to create an AIP with the current updates), then run the setup with the MST against the Installation Point

This takes more time than running from the CD, but is much easier to keep updated.

Although I've never installed Office (any version) on a Terminal Server with the CD (I've always used Administrative Installation Points) it's my guess that you can run the SP from either the manual download or from the office.microsoft .com website using the "Check for Updates" feature. The Administrative Updates are intended to be applied to an Administrative Installation Point, NOT to be installed on a client or a current installation

You don't need the MST to apply a Service Pack. I'd be interested in hearing what problems you had with performing the install from an Administrative Installation Point
