Office XP -- Slow Office Products Startup and Initial File Startup

Just recently, we began having a 30 second or more delay
when first firing up Office XP programs. Delay only
happens with MS Office Suite products, not WordPerfect or
other programs. And when opening a file with one of
these products, there is also a delay.

These delays just began recently.

We have
Rebooted
Refreshed
Reloaded all Office suite programs
Deleted all restore points up to last week

We are also getting a virus alert from Norton Antivirus
but have been assured by them that it is a "false
trigger" in that the virus in question if it were on the
system would be behaving in another way.

Any suggestions?

Try running the built in detect and repair. Start with
one application:
Open it,
Under the Help menu select detect and repair,
(Make sure the two checkboxes are cleared),
Then click start.
