Why would you need boot disks to install MS *Office*?

You are using the wrong CD! You need to use your
Windows XP CD, not the Office XP CD! You use
the Office CD to reinstall Office XP after installing
Windows XP, the operating system.

Likely you made an error when you mentioned Office XP. Office XP doesn't
require 6 boot disks to be installed nor is there a version 2002. I suspect
you are referring to reinstalling Microsoft Windows XP 2002. You don't need
to use bootdisks. All versions of the XP CD are self booting. See the
information here http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/clean_install.htm

Your message is very confusing.

First of all, are you trying to install Office XP ( a suite of application
programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or Windows XP (an operating
system)? They are two different things.

My guess is that that you're trying to install Windows, not Office, so I'll
proceed on that assumption. If you also want to install Office, that's fine,
but you can't do that until *after* you install WIndows.

To install Windows, no boot diskettes are needed, not did you need to format
anything before beginning--formatting is done as part of a clean
installation.. Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order
if necessary to accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean
installation (delete the existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted,
then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:

Thanks for the reply......I didn't think I did. Apparently I'm missing the
original xp disk and was trying to load the office suite.

Thanks for the alert. I apparently don't have the original xp cd and didn't
realize it.

Thanks, but no, I meant office xp. I apparently don't have the original xp
cd and didn't realize it, and 2002 was the version number.

Thanks, I was using the wrong cd and can't find the original xp cd. I was
trying to do a clean install. XP was on the system which was originally ME.
I reloaded ME when I couldn't find the xp cd (this was after a reformat due
to a bad virus). When I found an xp cd, I didn't realize that it wasn't the
correct win xp cd. Thanks again.

I'm afraid I can't follow your thread. In one post you seem to be referring
to Windows XP and in another Office XP. Good luck sorting this out.
