Office XP Apps Not Responding

Greetings,
Have 14+ PC's (all XP) on domain controlled by Win2K.
Users login and work, but at some point Word/Excel stop
responding. It seems to happen after some idle time, and
even more strange, it roams and is inconsistant. Problem
does not occur if logged into local PC (not a domain user)

What I've tried;

* change group policy (didn't change anything except
folder redirection), which right now just has folder
redirection for...
- My Documents
- Application Data
- Desktop
- Start menu

* login as same user on different PC, issue does not occur

* Delete user folder on local drive, change to workgroup,
restart, change back to domain and login as user.

I cannot determine (due to limited experience) if
Workstation issue, network issue, server issue or Win2K
issue. I tend not to think network, because all else
(software, browsing, etc) works on domain and if logged
into PC as local user. Very confused! Of course,
everyone here is getting pretty unhappy so any insite
anyone could offer would be much appreciated.
