hi,
i saw Office 2007 thumbnails in windows vista explorer demoed
but i can't see how to turn this on
what do i need to do to get thumbnails for my documents?
after installing acrobat reader for vista i do can see thumbnails for pdf
files....
tia,
marc

for this to be enabled your machine needs to be capable of running Aero. If
you can't run Aero then you won't get the thumbnails. The thumbnails will
happen automatically

ok,
so this is maybe a really dumb question but i think aero is running
i have a nvidia quadro fx 2500 - 512mb vid card
i have the tranlucent thing and the new task switching thing
how to confirm that aero is running?
and i still do not have thumbnails..

tia,
marc

Aero is only the theme and what the previous respondent is referring to is
actually called Glass. You can have Aero but no 3D effects (Glass).

If you are seeing the angled stack of Windows in the middle of your screen
when you click flip3d in the QL, you indeed have Aero Glass. Period.

Everybody has his own way of verifying Glass, but that is my favorite way to
know.

Be gentle with us Colin, what's the 'QL'?

I have a thing called Window Switcher that shows a stack of screens - is
that it?

QL = Quick Launch. Sorry.

Yes, Switcher is the one. I keep forgetting that flip3d wound up being
branded Switcher sometime during beta.

If Switcher does great things for you then you have Glass working.

:)

We have a happy camper!

Right click on your Taskbar and choose Properites. On the Taskbar tab make
sure that the bottom box is checked (Show window previews).

i do have glass...
i do have the angled screens when hitting windows+tab
i do have thumbnails on the taskbar when i hoover over the open progs
but i do not have thumbnails for my office 2007 docs....
why o why???

tia,

well i do not have thumbnails or live icons or whatever you want to call it
of my office documents...
strange thing is that i got an old word 2003 doc from someone else and
magically this gets a live icon in the explorer....
so i have exactly 1 word doc for which vista is willing to draw a thumbnail
and i serieously do not know what could be wrong ....

Sorry, I lost track of the context. You did say Office.

you are so right
and there i was thinking that a new magical feature arrived with vista
what a disappointment....
