Odd you should post to this particular forum.....
I've been using Office 2007 for about a year now and as with any new
application there is a learning curve. Office 2007 is a departure from
previous versions and I went into the upgrade with that knowledge. I have to
admit the difference is radical; however I would not go back as there are
features I would not do without.
It's going to take you a bit of time to get use to the new interface and
everything has moved, but remember how long it took you to master the prior
versions of Office?
Outlook 2007 is one of the applications that had the least UI changes from
what I remember (altho I believe Visio is the actual winner). I've been
using Outlook for more than 10 years and this version is the best of all.
The question is what mode are you using it? It's a super Exchange client and
a good Internet client but the configuration is a bit different and more
complex in Internet mode.
I would go through Outlook and (carefully) review your setup options. It
sounds like something is interfering with the loading (possibly huge PST
files?). If so, one of the things you can do is convert them to 2007 format.
Also if you're using cache mode I found it helpful to clear all the caches
and compress the files. This significantly speeded Outlook when I first did
it and I see performance improvements every other time.
