Help, i have a question about microsoft office. i
frequently use word and excel and i have the habit of
closing the program with the top "x" in the corner when
ever I need to open a different file. when i do so with
word and excel they close the entire program and all the
files i have open with out saving them.
I'm used to doing this and not losing work.
Is it possible to change office to ask "do you want to
save before closing", even on files that are open but
minimized, files that are not on top????

Interesting. When I "X-out" of Excel or Word before saving changes, I am
prompted to do so. I thought this was just standard for Office but if it's
not happening with you then there must be an option for this. If so, you've
somehow gotten yours unchecked. I looked but don't readily see where this
feature is turned off/on. I'm running Office 2000 btw.

Trent ... are you sure that the documents are not saved when you close the
program? There are reports of a macro virus which may cause this symptom.

See the following MS KB article 'WD2000: Word Saves Document Without
Prompting to Save' at http://tinyurl.com/qe0z
