We are using Office XP and 2000 throughout our small company. We just set up
our Exchange 2003 server. With Exchange came an Office Outlook 2003 disk. I
thought that it might be a good idea to standardize on this rather than have
multiple versions of Outlook everywhere. The interface was not received well.
I am going to have enough of a problem just getting everyone to accept
Exchange rather than a lame pop3 account that I would just like to uninstall
it.
So (without a test environment) guess who was the guinea pig for a working
installation?
I copied my .pst files both before and after the upgrade to separate
locations. I have uninstalled Office Outlook 2003 and Outlook XP is back. It
opens, and it recognizes all of my email. <Whew!>
When I send and receive though (pop3) I get a "The Operation Failed" error
message. There are no additional details. There are no entries in the Event
logs. I deleted the entire pop3 account and re-entered it from scratch. No
help. I chose "Detect and Repair" from the Tools menu. No help. I chose to
repair from the Office XP installation CD. No help. SP3 won't reinstall
because it detects it as already being there.
Outlook Express runs correctly (used for a different account).
I'd prefer NOT to uninstall and reinstall Office XP. Any suggestions?
