Hi All,
This has bugged me a lot . I want to install office 2000
Security patch on 500 machines but when I test it on on of
the machines it asks for office CD and if I giv the path
it installs correctly .

My problem is ,How can I create a package using SMS
installer so that when patch is distributed through
SMS ,it picks up the path from CD which is dumped on one
of the servers <<<

Thanks

Harry

Ok, first off, use a command line switch using msiexec
(windows installer) refer to the deployment document
associated with the office patch artcle. You should only
have to specify a location with the original data1pro.msi
that is currently installed (msiexec /p
<path1>\winword_admin.msp /a <path2>\data1pro.msi
SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE) . You might want to download the
administrative installation patch as I believe they
contain the SMS file as well. There is one last thing to
change the source path for the installed office version.
I couldn't find it but Microsoft has a VB script that
changes the source path for MS Office to enable exactly
what you want CD to network share. Email me if you are
interested and I might be able to find it.
