Windows XP Office has hourglass problem

My problem is that everytime I open up any program in Microsoft office, my pointer becomes an hourglass every 5 seconds, which stops my typing until it turns back into a pointer. I upgraded to a new dual processor and a new Office hoping the problem from my old system would go away.

My system is:

Intel 945P express chipset
Duo core
Windows XP
Asus P5LD2 motherboard
Office 2003
