Office File formats / File Signatures

I have an application which obtains numerous "unidentifiable" files
with no file extension, via FTP, and would like to run some sort of
binary filter on it to identify PPT, DOC, XLS file formats.

I did fine this: http://www.garykessler.net/library/file_sigs.html

But it seems a messy way of accomplishing this, and is incomplete. Any
clues as to finding the binary record format and/or file signatures of
Office documents (Office 2000 and greater).

- Thanks

Not an Outlook related problem - suggest you repost to a group for Office.

Milly,

Can you possibly lend me a hand with this issue, or point me in the
right direction?

I have two laptops both running XP OS and Office2003. One can send and
receive from Outlook to a certain account on a certain server, and the
other cannot send to the same account/server combination. ("check email
address field" error)

On advice from this group I have migrated the settings from the fully
functional PC to the hampered unit - no improvement.

I have tried the Protected Storage erase/reset fix for the Outlook 2003
password issue - no change.

Please - any movement in a positive direction will be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

-Joe

The answer to my question is to ask microsoft. They sent me the details
after signing
