Hello,

I have a situation where IE is not able to find the file being opened when
clicking on a link to a Word or Office document within Internet Explorer. It
says that the file cannot be found. However, if the user launches the
application prior to clicking on the link, the document opens fine. She
indicates that this happens with other applications attempting to launch from
an IE link as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Have already tried
a new user profile and moving the temporary internet files folder.

Thanks,
Slackerboy

Hi Jon - When I attempted this fix, the "Browse in Same Window" was already
cleared. I tried unchecking "Confirm Open After Download" but that made no
difference. Thank you.

Still have not found a resolution. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Jon - The error is not a "Page Cannot Be Displayed", but rather an error box
that pops up saying the file could not be found. Does not happen if the
Office application it is trying to call is already open.

I am having this problem as well. You dont get a page cannot be displayed
message. IE just tells you that the file cannot be found.

Some sites referece clearing the box for saving encrypted files, my files
are not encrypted, nor is the website. I would imagine that Slackerboy's
aren't either.

The files acutally open when we log into the computer with an account that
has admin rights on the box. It is only the non-admin accounts that have a
problem.

Ken,

I have not found one. I find it kind of disturbing that once the simple
answers failed to work that people stopped answering.
