I am new to networking. I have a wireless router at home,
attached to a desktop using Win ME. I wish to use my work
laptop (using Win 2000) to access my home computer files
and able to print to my HP printer, also directly
connected to my Win ME desktop. I believe that I have my
desktop configured for sharing properly. However, my Win
2000 laptop does not see my printer or anything else on my
shared home system. I have the proper wireless device
installed correctly on my laptop because it will "talk"
through my wireless router for accessing the internet. I
just cannot see my local printer that is connected to my
desktop. Help?

There are several things to check. Read "peer to peer" networks in the
Windows 2000 Help menu. Make sure the username, password and workgroup that
you login to on the W2K machine match exactly the same username, password
and workgroup that you use to login to the Me machine. Make sure File and
Printer sharing is enabled on both machines and that shares are setup on the
ME machine allowing access to your user. (right-click on the folder and/or
printer you want to share and select Sharing...)
Finally, if you have a firewall, make sure it is allowing your W2K machine's
ip address onto your network. Check your TCP/IP properties.

Hope this help,
G
