I just got a new machine with 07 office.
When I send word documents to others they cannot read because they have 2003
office.

Is there something I can change to let them open?

Better still is for them to download the free compatibility pack for legacy
office. Not only will this let them read the new version but will install
the new 'C' fonts that come with Office 2007 ensuring full compatibility.

I know that and you know that but sometimes the people we share files with
aren't terribly computer-savvy. I think it's better to save a file in the
older format if you know that a recipient doesn't have 2007.

Yes. In Word 2007 when you save the file. Click on file type and go through
the options save it under the file type of Word 2003 document
Best regards,
