Office 2007 update does not ID me as Administrator

In every way that I check, I am the Administrator. Nevertheless, everytime I
try to update Office 2007 with MS patches, it tells me that I must be and
Administrator in order to update. What on earth do I have to do? I tried
going directly to MS home page, by clicking Windows update from my Start
Menu, but it just ends with the same message with no choice to respond. If I
check the User Accounts, it shows me as an Administrator. Suggestions?

I followed your suggested steps but as soon as I tried for updates other than
Windows itself I got the
"To install updates from this website, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group on your computer. If
you use Windows XP, you can see if you are an administrator by going to User
Accounts in Control Panel.

Note: If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings
might also prevent you using this website. Contact your system administrator
for help with updates."

Why is this particular website is ok to get updates for Windows but not for
other Microsoft products like Office?

On the Start menu, rightclick the icon for Windows Update, and click "Run as
Administrator" Choose the options to update automatically, and 'include
recommended' updates.

But in Vista being logged in to an account with admin rights does NOT make
you the admin.
They disabled the REAL admin account by default.
When logged into an account that claims to be admin, you still have to start
programs using the 'run as administrator' trick to be able to do anything
useful.
They call it improved security, kinda like strip searching your grandma at
the airport because she is 467th in line (and letting the three guys with
the towels on their heads zip on through.

Interesting... one can be an Administrator but not an Administrator...
whatever...
As you imagine, my next question is how can Vista allows you to be a real
Administrator? The right-click to select Run as Administrator is a pain but I
haven't been able to get passed the Office Update.
