Paul,

With an offer as blatant as that (and using AOL as an ISP) I would expect
the Microsoft Thought Police to come knocking your door in the early hours
of the morning.

Plead insanity, it just might keep you out of the nick! :-)

Thought police? You are a strange guy. That guy did not offer his friend a
free install but tries to earn money by selling unlicensed software copies.
But it is quite probable that a friendly constable will be knocking on his
door, telling him that he is accused of having violated the copyright law
for personal enrichment and then confiscate his PC and software.

George Orwell's '1984' and the all-seeing and all powerful 'Thought
Police' - think about it :-)

But in this case, the OP has been caught 'bang-to-rights' placing a post
like that in a public newsgroup - a little subtly might have been in order -
wouldn't you agree?
