Office 2003 using 100% CPU time

I am using Outlook 2003 on Widows XP Pro SP1 and upgraded
to Outlook 2003 from the beta.

Upon opening Outlook, Online or Offline, any window view
it behaves normally. However as soon as I open and close
anything (a contact record, Email task etc) even if I do
not make any changes, Outlook then hogs my cpu usage
(typically 97-99%) until I shut Outlook down altogether.

I typically have 100-150 reminders outstanding and have a
quite big pst file (120MB), plus 4 archive pst files (140-
400MB each).

I have tried the /cleanfreebusy and /cleanreminders
command line options, checked Office Source engine
service is not running, compressed the pst file,
checked "cahed Exchange mode (comnnecting to Exchange
2003), all to no avail.

Has anyone got any other suggestions please?

Michael

I have the same problem. I have been trying to locate the
reason but have not found it. It started after installing
the official OL2003 over the beta.

Patrick: I am not sure I understand what you mean
by "create the profile"...

OK I have solved my particular problem (Michael - original poster) by
creating a new pst folder in the Outlook 2003 format and deleting the
old local pst folder which was in 97/2000/2002 format. It means that I
have lost backward compatibility and had to spend a few hours
re-setting up rules and layouts etc, but I no longer get the CPU usage
problem. Hope it works for you guys.
