Office 2003 File not available in Word

I have XP, Office 2003 Student/Teacher edition. When I try to open Word documents, I get a message that says "File (name) is not available". I thought I was having trouble converting from a previous version of Word, but it happens on all word files, even ones I have just created. Does anyone know what is happening? A fix? Thanks!
 
Disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus.
