when I click to open a email message the top 3/4 of the my computer screen is
the top part of my message showing :: from--to--bcc--address-then over half
of the screnn is blank then the :: subject of the email shows.

then below the subject is the actual email ?
How can I get back to a normal email reading window like it us to show ? I
don';t know what I clicked on but I've read & tried help to no avail ?

Close Outlook. Find the outcmd.dat file. It's likely hidden so use Windows
Explorer to unhide hidden folders and files and also set it to view known
file extensions/types. Do a file/folder search for outcmd.dat. Delete it and
then open Outlook to see if this has resolved the problem you see. If not,
please post back.

I've always run with " view known files ext/types.
I did a search and it said none.
Last night I tried solving it and in the "view tab" -- Encoding --I scanned
all the coices and tried the "western Euoprean 11 " and it put the opened
email bak the way it was in that its now with the top section is about 1/6 th
of the screen and the text the remaining 5/6 of my screen.
Thanks for trying and the two Outlook tips sites I never heard of and I'll
use them for sure.

On my folder options :: I have this YELLOW FOLDER --Hidden Files & Folders :
under that is a dot in--show hidden files and folders. The circle is
blank/not checked with the phrase::----do not show hidden files & folders.

Isn't this what the other MVP asked ?

Yes, but you didn't mention that. You mentioned the "Hide extensions for
known file types" option. I even quoted your statement about it so there
was no doubt what you said.

Outlook always creates the outcmd.dat file when it runs. The file is in
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

I went to the address you said in Outlook and the file wasn't there ?
Try giving the full address on getting to the right file ?

Its nat an issue anymore as its working/looking like its suppose to.

Thanks for your input/suggestions.
