HI,

I installed Vista and now my office 07 beta programs will not work. I get an
error when trying to open and it looks for the disk.

I have tried unistalling but it gives an error and says the action failed. I
have tried installing with the same error. I have also tried all this in
safe mode as well with the same results.

Perhaps, with more information.

Did you install Vista as an upgrade to XP or as a clean install?

Have you tried either the Microsoft Office Diagnostics tool (Start>All
Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools>Microsoft Office
Diagnostics) (Start>"type" "Diag") or re-installing Office 2007 Professional
Beta?

What steps or methods, if any have you tried?

it was an upgrade from XP

i tried the office diagnostic and it gave a fatal error installation.

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling office and it gets the same errors.

We'll assume, then, that Office 2007 Pro Beta was installed on the system in
XP before the upgrade.

Have you tried re-running the installation setup file and selecting the
"repair" function?

tried that too. got the same error.

I'm out of options. It's entirely possible that by upgrading the O/S,
instead of doing a clean install, there has been significant corruption of
the registry keys that pertain to Office. By that I mean the keys for
Office created under XP are different from those that would be created if
the suite is installed into Vista, and Vista can not find the information it
needs in the registry. If this is true, I would certainly send some
feedback to MSFT about it, but then again I don't know if it is true.

The only other suggestion I have is to wipe it all off, install Vista clean
and then install Office. Make sure to back-up any documents you want to
keep.

Perhaps there are others who have a less drastic solution.

how do i send feedback about this to MS?

Blue, circular icon on the Vista desktop called "Feedback." If it isn't
there, click on Start and type "Feedback" into the textbox (cursor should
already be there). If that doesn't work, try
C:\Windows\System32\feedback.hta. If all else fails Colin has posted the
actual web addresses several times.
