Hello,

Currently I am trying to change careers from web developing to
technical writing (instruction manuals). To build up my resume I want
to make a few manuals for freeware authors. I was wondering if any
freeware authors were interested in my making a free manual for them?
There will be no fee and all I want is just a small credit in the
manual and a reference from the author.

This would be a great opportunity for those who dislike writing or if
English isn't their first language. And of course there is no
obligation to accept the manual if it isn't up to par.

Sincerely,

Russell Zah

Post your offer on MyIE2 forum http://m2.overseasky.net/ .
They have one of the best freeware programs ever made.
They could use an excellent instructional manual.
Beware, this is a very complex program with well over 100
options. They have a basic manual and a very comprehensive
forum which you can glean most if not all the information
needed to author a very compressive manual. There are
many very knowledgeable forum members which can answer
any questions. This software program is destined to become
famous with your help. It is allready on alt.comp.freeware
Priselessware list. Goodluck

Work on a open source freeware project such as those for Linux.
Almost all the open source Linux projects have Documentation Teams.
(e.g. see www.gentoo.org).

If you want to learn how to develop great manuals, I would recommending
joining such a team on a software project that interests you. You will
learn from more experienced writers.

Thanks! I emailed the programmers and downloaded their program.
Hopefully they will agree to this.
