First I want to thank the members of this group for all the help and
suggestions.
Without this source I would not have completed my task. Today I can
say I am done with the physical scanning of over 6,000 35mm Ektachrome
and Kodachrome slides dating back to 1966.
Just being able to look back and read the postings has been valuable.
The immediate and constructive feedback to my posts saved my bacon on
two occasions.
I used a Nikon LS-2000 - it was used (bought it on EBay). Once I
learned tips from you folks it worked great. I did learn that the
slides taken with 126 film (mounted as square format 35mm sized
slides) were extremely difficult to process. I am glad that film
format no longer exists. Or does it?
I simply have to shout how great I think VUESCAN is. Mr. Hamrick's
software sure helped me.
Another package I found to be extremely useful is Slide Show To Go -
You can find it by search for 'nightwatchsoftware'. It is written by
Elliott Shevin. Easy to use lots of fade and sound choices. I've
already produced slide shows for over half of the 6,000 slides.
Now I need some more help.
I'm guessing some of you might also be involved in 8mm film
conversions.
I need some advice on finding a e-group and I'd appreciate comments
about things to avoid, red herrings, how to select equipment or
vendors.
I have 5,500 feet of film. I'd prefer having someone do it (6,000
slides were enough) but if costs approaches a grand I will have to
consider doing it myself.
I'd really appreciate any and all feedback on the 8mm project.
Thanks,
Dave Palmer
