I know this isn't the right place for this, but the people in this group
really know a lot about this stuff so I'd thought I'd ask here and hope
nobody shoots me.

I have a 9pin Okidata impact printer on a xp system running excel 2003 for
printing invoices on pre-printed forms from an excel spreadsheet.

The problem is the forms are 4 1/4 X 8 and under page setup there is no
option to customize the page. All I'm offered is a selection of 5 sizes
that I think were put in there by the printer driver/software. None of them
are even close to 4 1/4 inches in length.

Has anybody run into this and found a workaround?
Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

How close to 4 1/4 x 8 does it have to be?

A quick look under paper size shows a Monarch Envelope size at 3.88 x 7 1/2.

it has to be 4 1/4 on the lengh, there's wiggle room in the width, because I
want it to be at the top of the next form when it stops printing one. The
buisness logo is in the first top inch of the form..

don't know. Could find out. in the meantime I emailed
okidata and got a reply from them today telling me to call their 800 support
number (1-800654-3282) which I will do in the morning. I'll post the
results of the contact.

by the way, word has a "custom" choice in page set up and it let me just
type in the form size, but, although it printed the form ok, it then issued
a form feed for an 11 inch page, thus defeating the custom setting.
oi-vey....

they would be the most likely people to have the 'template' or driver patch
etc.

set 'page break' in the printer driver

Hey hey hey, it's working.
The okidata phone support worked like a charm.
No on hold, or any of that. A few clicks though their menu and i was
talking to a support girl. She said i had to make a setup page in the
operating system first.
XP support doc # 2907 tells how to do it. Once that was done, the next
thing was to set up the printer which is done via the touch switches on the
front of the printer. This was tedious, confusing, and time consuming, but
she walked me through it, and ...... ta daaa..... it worked.
My mistake was in thinking the custom form could be created in the software
(excel), when in fact, it has to be created within the operating system.
