AIOE http://news.aioe.org/

Albasani http://albasani.net/index.html.en

CNNTP http://www.cnntp.org/cnntp

ETT http://news.ett.com.ua/

Motzarella http://motzarella.org/

Solani http://news.solani.org/

Tornevall http://news.tornevall.net/

Usenet4all http://www.usenet4all.se (blocks all posts from Google)

I use AIOE and Motzarella. AIOE requires no registration, accepts
text postings, and has a maximum of 25 posts per day. Because there
is no registration required, the server has extensive filtering to
prevent abuse. For example, there is a restriction on crossposting,
to prevent spammers from hitting a lot of groups with a few postings.

The Motzarella server requires registration, so you authenticate with
username and password. With the right news reader, the username and
password can be remembered from session to session, so you don't have
to keep typing them in.

I don't know anything about the others. I gather
Solani is relatively new. And I've never heard of
that Ukrainian (.ua) one before either.

If you're looking for "binary action", best to buy a block
account, and use that. Even if you find a free binary server
that allows leeching 50MB per day, it is likely to be
oversubscribed and hard to access.

I've seen lists before, with a couple hundred free servers listed,
but once you start combing through the list, they're all "read-only"
or dead. The list of good free servers is relatively short.
And of the ones above, I can only vouch for two of them. If
one of my servers is down for maintenance, I use the other.
Both of those servers are "one man operations", meaning
response when there is a problem, generally takes a day
to resolve. And potentially worse on the weekend. The longest
outage was around one week, caused by a IP address registration
problem. That is why a second server is essential.
