My wife uses Outlook Express (OEx) under XP SP3, older Dell.
I installed PowerPoint Reader on her machine, but OEx
won't open a file attachment with a ppt/pps extension when I
double click the attachment icon. It does not recognize
existing file extension association ppt and pps with the MS
PowerPoint viewer.
I can save the file attachment, double click it, and it
opens with PowerPoint Viewer. In OEx, if I double click the
attachment, I get a dialog box asking me whether to save or
open. I can save, but if I click open, I get the error
noise, "Chong," and a message, "There is no program
association to perform that action. Go to Folder Options to
establish an association." But when I go there, I find an
association with PowerPoint Viewer for both ppt and pps file
types already.
How do I get OEx to open the attachment with PowerPoint viewer?
Lacking that, please point me to a place to get a solution.
