Hello;

I created an oemlogo.bmp and copied it to c:\windows\system32\oemlogo.bmp
I made an oeminfo.ini and located in c:\windows\system32\oeminfo.ini
-----------
[General]
Manufacturer=Wesley P. Vogel
Model=Some stuff here

[Support Information]
Line1=
Line2=
Line3= Rod Serling new more than he was telling us.
Line4=
Line5= "I've been through some awful worries, and some of them actually happened."
Line6= Mark Twain
------
The curious thing, to me, is the way the oem stuff appears.
Right click My Computer | Properties |
System Properties | General tab.

Wesley P. Vogel
Some stuff here
Both of these appear above the Processor Info. And my oem.bmp appears to left of that.

Right click My Computer | Manage | Right click Computer Management (Local) | Properties |
Computer Management (Local) Properties | Support Information button |
Computer Management (Local) Properties | General tab.
Line3, line5 and Line6 appear.
But no oem.bmp appears.

Is this how this is supposed to work?
Happy New Year!

Wes

| Line3= Rod Serling new (sic) more than he was telling us.

Wes also.

Oem.Bmp has specific dimensions and colour depth.

You can use WinPersonalizer v5.1,it is an integrated tool to customize
your Windows look. This program can change animated
wallpapers,icons,cursors,IE skins,folders,visual styles,OEM
information,transparency of Taskbar,Start button text and put your
name in system tray.
Why waste money and hard disk space downloading third party
applications everytime you want something changed in Windows?

DCM;
Thank you for your reply. I'm not wasting money. I just want to know the
answer to my question. Is this how this is supposed to work?
WinPersonalizer may be wonderful but, www.holersoft.com/ is unavailable and I don't read
Farsi.

Is WinPersonalizer a third party application?

The important question to ask is "Does WinPersonalizer actually resolve this particular issue?"

"Desktop Customization Master" did not even mention from where WinPersonalizer is available.

I saw that in the "Full-Page Advertisement" as a [New Post]. All the other ten or so reply-posts were extremely cut-down versions,
similar to the one in this thread, but none of them had a link to the website. (Obviously not skilled in marketing!)

Doesn't matter if they're skilled at marketing or not. The links don't work.
I did a Search this morning for WinPersonalizer before robot posted any links.
I found two, one that does not work and one at some Iranian download center
that was in Farsi.

Wes,

I checked the links and they worked fine on my end. Are you sure you're
not being blocked from accessing the website somehow? If you're still
unable to access the site, you might need to clear your dns cache so it
doesn't remain poisoned with expired pages that have been corrected.

Durand

Wes,

I'm a little surprised that the dns cache couldn't be flushed despite
using the correct command multiple times. As a workaround, you could
temporarily stop the dns client service and try the website. If it
works, then it's obvious that the dns cache is poisoned. If you really
need the dns cache client, restart it and then try flushing it again to
see if it clears.

Thanks for the reply. I already know, from experience, that if I disable the
Dhcp Service, I can't get online.
Start | Programs | Accessories | Communications | Network Connections |
Right click Local Area Connection 3 (Me)| Repair
And got this little gem:
[Repair Connection

Purging the DNS Resolver cache.
Please contact your network administrator or ISP.]
Hmm... I might have to get a hold of comcast and ask some questions.
Maybe I'll go offline and disable Dhcp and try flushing again.
Thanks again for the replies. :o)

Well, at least I now know that if you want

I double checked the Dependencies tab and, sure as God made little

I double checked TCP/IP in my Local Area Connection 3 and nothing
there had changed. Advanced TCP/IP Settings | IP Settings tab
still shows DHCP Enabled. But I can find no
mention of DNS Client any where in Local Area Connection 3
I can see that IPCONFIG /flushdns will get added to my housekeeping chores

Wes,

Thanks for the update, it may seem that comcast's dns server may be
blocking the address to that server. I can see you've done everything on
your end, and so far, you're a-ok. Might I suggest adding a dns server
to your tcp/ip protocol? One I like to use is an orsc server which goes
beyond those of comcast's dns server, anyway it's address is
204.55.57.100 which is the New Jersey ORSC DNS root server. Make that
one your first or 3rd server in the dns list on your tcp/ip connection.
It might just allow you to bypass comcast's dns server and access those
pages.

Wes,

I checked the links and they worked fine on my end. Are you sure you're
not being blocked from accessing the website somehow? If you're still
unable to access the site, you might need to clear your dns cache so it
doesn't remain poisoned with expired pages that have been corrected.

One more thing, I just thought of it....... There is a regedit file I
can post here which helps to prevent the dns cache from caching bad
pages. You can open them in notepad and look it over before you apply

Thanks again for the replies. I downloaded the reg file
and looked at it with Edit.

I checked my
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters
and none of the following Value Names existed.
I realize that the reg file will create them.
I have not Merged the file yet.

"NegativeCacheTime"=dword:00000000
"NetFailureCacheTime"=dword:00000000
"NegativeSOACacheTime"=dword:00000000
"ServerPriorityTimeLimit"=dword:00000000

I'll give it a shot when I get a little more time.
I've got to do a little more boning up on

for example.
Thanks again. :o)

to your tcp/ip protocol? One I like to use is an orsc server which goes

204.55.57.100 which is the New Jersey ORSC DNS root server. Make that
one your first or 3rd server in the dns list on your tcp/ip connection.

Any input would be appreciated.

Wes,

I checked the links and they worked fine on my end. Are you sure
you're not being blocked from accessing the website somehow? If
you're still unable to access the site, you might need to clear
your dns cache so it doesn't remain poisoned with expired pages
that have been corrected.

Durand

Doesn't matter if they're skilled at marketing or not. The links
don't work. I did a Search this morning for WinPersonalizer
before robot posted any links. I found two, one that does not
work and one at some Iranian download center that was in Farsi.

I saw that in the "Full-Page Advertisement" as a [New Post].
All the other ten or so reply-posts were extremely cut-down
versions, similar to the one in this thread, but none of them
had a link to the website. (Obviously not skilled in
marketing!)

Why waste money and hard disk space downloading third
party applications

Is WinPersonalizer a third party application?
The important question to ask is "Does WinPersonalizer
actually resolve this particular issue?"
"Desktop Customization Master" did not even mention from
where WinPersonalizer is available.
