I just discovered I need an OEM Preinstallation Kit in order to install the
operating system software. In order to get this OPK you need to register as
a PARTNER with Microsoft. If they want me as a partner I think they should
put me on their payroll too. :-)

Please register and visit the OEM System Builders web site: http://www.microsoft.com/oem/default.mspx
There are dedicated System Builder newsgroups that can assist you with OEM installation questions.

Alfred,

I'm not sure what's your situation, but you don't *have* to use OPK to
install Vista. You *may* use it however to streamline OS deployment phase of
PC manufacture process, customize/brand Help and Support and create recovery
media.

As for "partner" term being used, it obviously means "company-partner", not
an individual/employee promoted to the partner level :-)

BTW, recently I've registered on System Builder site for the purpose of
getting Vista OPK. What I was interested in is a particular application that
is part of OPK - ACWStudio - which is an utility to create Guided Help
topics.

Did you know you can easily author your own "Guided Help" topics? That's
right, sound's pretty cool and not just for OEMs/System Builders. Currently
I'm playing with it to see if you can create standalone/redistributable
Guided Help topics. That would be great...
