Hi,

I would thank anyone that could provide assistance with this matter:

I have a small business customer who is in the middle of a complete pc
refresh, I plan to buy the new PC´s with Windows XP Professional OEM for
each new PC, however I am in doubt as to what would be the best purchase
option.

I have been considering buying the OEM version of Windows XP and as part of
another purchase to buy Software Assurance for the product through Open
License, however I have a doubt as to wether I could eventually move the
licenses to different PC's, because If the customer renews Software
Assurance every two years around 2008 the product that will replace Windows
XP would probably not run in the original PC's we are purchasing.

Thanks for any help.

OEM is not transferable from machine to machine. Retail
versions of Windows are transferable. XP will be the OS for
about two to three more years and then there will be a new
version. So if you plan on replacing the computers in 3
years you will probably want to upgrade again. You can
upgrade an OEM.
Your new computers would normally be sold with OEM versions
of the OS. If you plan on replacing hardware very often,
buying retail version could be cheaper.
