OE6 sp1 can't delete mail from inbox

Sir/Ma'am,
When I try to delete mail from the inbox it stays in the
inbox but a copy is placed in the recycle bin. When I
try to move mail out of the inbox instead of deleting it
I get a can not move message error. I'm using XP Home
and OE 6 sp1. Any help would be appreciated
