OE6 refuses to download newsgroups

HARDWARE: Toshiba laptop over netgear wireless router to cable modem.

PROBLEM: OE6 tries to authorize the newsgroup download then times out back
to the Logon screen with my username & password. The server name is correct
(I verified), so are the username and the password. They both work from the
native isp site. My email accounts work fine, including the default account
needed to dl email messages. Same version of software works fine on desktop
computer. This version of OE6 was clean loaded to laptop yesterday.

It's very unusual to have to authenticate a news server - are you SURE
that you are using a secure news server?

Comcast server was down - go figure!
