When the DELETE button is clicked on a msg in the INBOX, the message stays
there. Upon closing then reopening OE, the deleted message is properly
placed in the DELETE folder.

What is happening?

Thank You!

Wayne

Found the INBOX (though deeper than FIX noted). Cannot delete it. Pls,
what is process here to delete "a protected" file?

You need to be logged on as an administrator to delete the file AFAIK......

Is your email an IMAP account because if it is then behaviour may be normal.

Just wanted to check before you start trying to fix things.

This is, I am a one-person show - I am the administrator (aren't I?) I do
not log-on as anything.

BTW - also noticed that while the INBOX will show 'n' new messages (when OE
is opened), they are not seen until I click on another folder then go back
to the INBOX.

Also, know that all has/had worked fine since I got this new machine - about
3 weeks ago - just until yesterday did the DELETE problem, now also a
viewing problem come to light.

Sorry Wayne you lost me on your previous post, one show, administrator ???

I was stating that IMAP works differently to POP3 and deleted messages don't
delete until you purge them.

Andy - SORRY about the cryptic words. A posting noted that I need to be the
Administrator - I am. 'One show' meant me, only. Meanwhile, stupid me!!
Account is a POP. All was fine until recently. I attempted to delete the
INBOX for it self-generates. The stupid me refers to I finally simply
rebooted! New machine (long overdue laptop) here - have not booted in days,
may days, simply hibernate, etc. The reboot eliminated, "fixed" the
problem.

Very SORRY to take post responders down a path that turned out not to be
necessary.

Thank You for caring (much of which I find on these newsgroups but not in
the outside world).
