Hi,
I just bought a new PC loaded w/XP Pro. It currently has Outlook 2000
as its default mail client, it did have OE as ghe default but I
recently uninstalled it. I transferred all my OE data from my old PC
to the new PC. I used OE for a while then decided to switch to
Outlook. I was able to import all the OE data into outlook and
uninstalled OE. This was a few weeks ago and outlooks been running
fine. I was googling into how to safely remove the old OE identities
in the registry and the remaining files(identities and .dbs'x) and
noticed this link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=230076 about OE being
required to run Outlook 2k. It mentions its needed for newsgroup
support but I won't be using Outlook for that. Is it still OK for me
to remove all the OE identities and reg keys and any remaining OE
files? Thanks!

Remove NOSPAM from address when replying

That depends, did you install it in IMO or CW mode?

Anyway; don't use manual methods like removing reg keys and installation
files of OE. Simply remove the configured accounts by using the Outlook
Express interface and use Add/Remove Windows Components to remove OE. You
can manually delete the dbx-files.

Again, why bother?

certainly remove all the OE identities, but I say again, why on earth
bother to go to all that trouble to uninstall OE?

1. Outlook Express cannot be removed from Windows XP
2. Outlook Express is required to be on the same computer as Outlook
in order for Outlook to function properly, as Outlook uses some of
Outlook Express' files.

And that's exactly all that should be removed ;-)
