OE incoming mail server

Does any one know why my incoming mail server changes from "mail." to a
series of numbers? This has happen several times to me an the past week,
could it be related to virus updates or any downloads?

Perhaps you could tell us what the "series of numbers" is? Is it something
similar to 127.0.0.1? The more likely explanation is that this is how your
virus scanner performs its email protection,
