I accidentally sent over the internet a message with over 500 addresses in
the CC field. A recipient reports that OE 6 opens, highlights that message
at the top of the inbox list, and immediately hangs. Any ideas on how to
recover, e.g., delete that message?

File | Work Offline & View | Layout Uncheck the Preview Pane. See if
they can delete it now.

Another option is if their ISP has WebMail, go to the Website and delete
it there.

A third option is to have them move all the other messages they want to
save out of the Inbox to a local folder they create. Then:

Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the location
of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start>Run>Ctrl+V will put the
location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise,
write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.

In WindowsXP & 2K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start>Control Panel>Folder
Options>View.

With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in
question {Inbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created
automatically when you open OE and the message will be gone.

Email sent over the Internet cannot be recalled or canceled. Just like
snail mail once the USPS has it.
