Hi (again)
Two days ago OutLook Express 6 deleted all mails on one of my pc's. Offcause
I never opens any attached files or anything like that.

Also OE acts very strange. When recieving new mail - they will be deleted
/dissapear after being read once.!!! This goes for both inbox and outbox !

Q: Is this related to any virus ..?
Q: What to do about it ..?

I have Zonelab Firewaal and Mcafee Anti Virus.
Actually I did one thing with Mcaffe before all my mails very deleted. I
activated Scan Mail Attachment - as I found that this did'nt seem to be
enabled .

Hope someone can give me a clue on this ...very serious ..problem!
Thanks

The files that represents your inbox is probably corrupted. Find the file
inbox.dbx on your machine. If you delete it, OE will make a new one that
should work properly.

Sometimes you don't have to open the attachment.

Are you blocking them yourself?

View > Current View > Hide Read Messages ??
Q: Is this related to any virus ..?
Doubtful.

Q: What to do about it ..?

Change option as above.

Thanks both of u.
But none of your advice did it.
I have deleted inbox.dbx - and imported a backup of all mails from last
summer (!) but all mail folders are empty even then!

I think i better remove Outlook E. and install it again ...

any other suggestions ..?

Bets wishes Otto

Try the "repair option" for "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6
and Internet Tools" which is sometimes available from
within the "Add/Remove Programs" utility in the control
panel application. I don't know how much of OE is affected
by this "repair", but it might help.

....you have to click the add/remove button after highlighting
"MIE6aIT" to view the option.

Otto.....if Rafters' suggestion to try a repair of IE6 didn't work, then
please find the news group for OE6 and the fellows on there can help
you. Removing OE6 can cause you some problems.

Click on the following link which will bring up all of the Microsoft
news groups and then look for one called......
"Microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer6_outlookexpress"

news://msnews.microsoft.com

Good luck......Heather

Here is the newsgroup for the OE6 at the location Heather listed. This is
the one you want to look for.

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
