after installing the SP2 update i am continually prompted
for the hotmail password when checking for new massages.
the remeber password box is checked but greyed out.

This fix applies to Outlook and other programs that store passwords
in the Protected Storage System Provider sub-branch of the Registry.
It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and Autocomplete.

Hi have tried this several times using both links below.
It prompts me to re-enter my POP Yahoo account, which
then works fine (but worked ok anyway even without these
fixes), but Hotmail still doesn't work. This happens on
both mine and my wife's identity on this machine. I've
also tried re-booting after the fix and re-entering the
hotmail passwords before the POP one. Same result. When
I go into the accounts/properties/server etc to edit the
hotmail accounts passwords, it contains a password
already with far more characters than the 8 that mine
contains. is this relevant?

Under permissions in the registry there is a group/user
for:
Administrators
my username
RESTRICTED
SYSTEM

is this correct?

I've tried checking the box for 'Replace permission
entries...' for all. this doesn't work either
