OE 6.0 MAPI error and missing files

None of my Outlook Express (6.0) files like *.wab, *.dbx,
*.mbx, etc. can be found on my computer and I get a MAPI
error when trying to export the mail folders. However the
mail is working fine.

The Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 179637 reports the
MAPI error only for OE 5.5 and lower and the presented
solution is not possible on OE 6.0.

Please advise,

Windows version?
MBX, IDX and NCH files are from OE4.
File | Export only exports to an installed Outlook or other Exchange
program.
