Heya i just recieved my Gainward 6600GT ?!?! lol Even though it still says pre-order on overclockers.com ?!?! Haha this is wierd ! I cancelling order on 6800 from tekheads.com lol
!! Haha

Do i need to go on add/remove programmes, and remove anything that says nVidia ?! THEN put in my new card ?! lol

Wicked !

Make sure you cancel your tekheads order asap otherwise you'll end up with two cards. If you've given them a credit card number it may even be too late. Good luck.

Yes, it's best to remove old drivers first, you can do that from the add/remove function in control panel. You could remove all Nvidia folders, but you don't have. to. That can get a little awkward if you have an Nvidia motherboard chipset, btw.

Download latest Nvidia drivers from either Nvidia's site or www.guru3D.com.

Remove old drivers, shut down, remove mains cable as a safeguard, swap out vid card, reboot.

Your screen will look like crap :)

When Windows prompts you to load new drivers, browse to your downloaded drivers (which have already been unzipped, if necessary, of course) and install.

Reboot, adjust all your settings, and don't forget refresh rate. That should do ya :)

And did you get an e-mail recently, concerning numbers? ;)

Oops :(

A good percentage of 6600GT chips are faulty and will immediately fail on any benchmark or 3D game... if you get one of these, just forget trying to fix the problem, the chipset is bad and you should return and get a replacement
Hope your Gainward was pre-tested.

Why am I feeling this churning in my stomache? Hold thumbs for me then. I've got a Gigabyte 6600GT... and I'll have to wait for my MB to test it out. Hope it works, if not, I'll have trouble replacing it... I feel dizzy...

Thanx for te tip on the 600gt's... Thats gonna be a huge pain since if you want to get any better you go with a 6800gt and thats 500 dollars. (its alot less in euros specially since the dollar just took another nose dive. cashed in some euros the other day and it was at like 1.76 to one euro. Guess we just have to wish for the best... (Good luck all).
