I'm running Win2k professional 5.00.2195 SP3. For no
apparent reason, I'm recently getting the following errors
in Windows Explorer. After a few minutes of using the
program, when I click on ANY folder to access its
contents, I get one of these errors and am forced to close
explorer. If I rerun is it seems to work fine for a few
minutes and then the issue surfaces again. Also, cometimes
when I continue to click the OK button on the error msg,
the folder icons in Explorer go crazy and change to blank
icons and start multiplying.
C:\........ is not accessible.
This folder was moved or removed.
C:\........ is not accessible.
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is
incorrect.
The directories that I try to access are NOT readonly or
hidden, and I've run disklevel, registrylevel, viruslevel,
and adware/spyware diagnostics and the system seems
clean.
My relatively inexperienced corporate support staff
recommend a complete reinstall of the OS -- which in my
opinion is taking the easy way out. Can I do something
specific like replace Explorer to fix this problem?
Has this been experienced by other people?
