Odd restart problem

I recently had to do a reinstall of Xp Home edition. Even after downloading all driver and software updates, every time now that I restart my computer, or even when I turn it on, right before the Windows loading screen comes on, there is a white "bar" that flashes across the bottom of my screen; it is segmented, and it fills up, then my computer goes on to the Windows loading screen. It is behaving exactly like a reboot after installing a patch.
While everything seems to be working ok after bootup, this is nagging at me...
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks

Haven't seen that with XP, but that's the normal loading bar you get in
Windows 2000, so maybe it happens with XP in some configuarations, too. In
W2K it also gives you an option of hitting F8 to enter some sort of setup
mode.

Perfectly normal. Happens on my sister's HP because it's not exactly the
fastest in the universe, but I don't see it on mine because it's a better
specc'd system.
