Just reinstalled XP Pro here and installed Cat 3.8 drivers for my 9800 Pro.
Set my resolution back to 1600x1200 70Hz as its always been and everything
is ok until i reboot my PC, upon booting back into windows the res is set to
640x480 and i get the "Please correct your display settings" popup, so i
changed it back to 1600x1200 and its all ok. Reboot the PC and it resets
them again!
Upgraded to Cat 4.1 and its doing the same thing.
All latest updates, patches & drivers are installed.

Any ideas?

Been having exactly the same problem with my 9600XT on Windows 2000
Professional SP4.

Removed 4.1 and installed 3.10 - same problem. Removed 3.10 and installed
3.9 from CD that came with the card, same problem.

Uninstalled ATI drivers and ran using Windows default VGA driver. Changed to
800x600. Rebooted and Windows "remembers" the setting as it should and
rebooted into 800x600 mode. Reinstalled Catalyst 4.1, changed resolution to
800x600 (to test), rebooted and, whoops, back to 640x480 @ 60Hz -
ARRRGGGHHH!!!!

I've tried installing the Rage 3D Tweak as advised by someone - didn't fix
the issue.

I've been advised to ensure (if used) that the VIA drivers are not a
specific version 4.50. Unfortunately, my MoBo is an Asus P4P800 Deluxe and
doesn't uise the VIA chipset/drivers. I did however try using the chipset
driver that came on the CD with the MoBo rather than the latest from the
Asus website. Again, didn't resolve the issue.

If anyone can resolve this, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know how!

Carl
