odd power up behavior

I recently upgraded to an athlon 64 system selecting the Asrock 939
Dual SATAII motherboard. The monitor, speakers and case power are all
connected to a power consol type surge protector that sits under my
monitor. When I turn on the "master switch" I still have to power on
the system. However, since the upgrade when I through the master
switch there is a brief spinning of all the case fans.

Now I could solve this problem by just connecting the case power
supply to a different surge protector but I'm wondering if this is a
sympton of something larger that may occur after the motherboard
warrenty has expired.

This didn't happen on my Abit NF-7.

I have searched but cannot find a reference to this kind of problem.

Thanks in advance.

The BIOS will have a setting for what to do when power restored, you need to
set it to power up, then it will boot when you throw the master switch.

Thank you. I just got an email from Asrock tech support confirming
that this is normal. I've just never seen it happen before.
