I've searched quite a bit and not been able to find a similar problem, so I
will try my luck here.
My laptop (running Windows xp), after an indiscriminate amount of time
(usually 20-30min), seems to lose connectivity to the internet across all
applications. A reboot resolves this issue.
After connectivity is lost I can still ping IP addresses from the command
line, but not domain names. I pull up a new browser instance and type in the
IP address only, and this does not seem to work, which I find odd.
Connections made behind the router on my intranet work fine (IP and machine
name), and this problem is localized to the laptop-- all other computers
behind the router are OK.
I've trying stopping and restarting all relevant services and using all
options off of ipconfig to no avail. netstat doesn't reveal any differences
between when the laptop is functioning properly and when it doesn't.
Thanks in advance for any assistance/direction you might be able to
provide!!
