My WinXp SP1 box is on the office network. However, the Lan Connection icon
in the system tray show that data is being received (and sent by very
seldom). I've turned off every service I can think of, but the data is
still flowing. How can I debug this further?

Install Zone Alarm www.zonelabs.com it is a firewall that
will report which programs are sending or which are trying
to get into your computer.

Run AdAware and or SpyBot to find spyware.

On an Ethernet, each computer will normally send a packet
just to say "I'm here" and that could be what you are
seeing.

Try engaging the TCP/IP port filtering.
Try stoping the Workstatio and Server services and Netbios
over TCP/IP.
Install a third party firewall program like Zone Alarm and
configure it to block all inbound traffic on the local
network segment.

Hope this helps.
